Mass Intentions
Uniting your prayer with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass
A Mass intention offering supports a priest by helping provide for his daily needs, allowing him to continue serving Christ and His Church with fidelity and devotion.
In the Catholic tradition, a Mass intention is a request that a priest offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for a particular intention, such as for a loved one, for the repose of a soul, or for a special need. Through the offering of the Mass, that intention is united to Christ’s perfect sacrifice on the altar. Those who request a Mass customarily make a freewill offering as an act of thanksgiving and participation in the life and mission of the Church, thereby supporting the priest who celebrates the Mass.
A priest may accept only one offering for a Mass intention each day, though he may carry many other intentions in his heart during the celebration of the Mass. For the person for whom the Mass is offered, this is a profound spiritual gift, through which grace and strength flow from Christ’s sacrifice. Through this sacred offering, the person is lifted up in prayer and drawn more deeply into communion with Christ and His Church.
In Madagascar, Mass intention offerings are an important means of support for MEP priests. They contribute directly to our daily living expenses such as food, transportation, and basic necessities. An offering of $15 is suggested for each Mass.
* If you are unable to make an offering, please feel free to write to me with your intention. I will be honored to celebrate a Mass for your intention.

The Missa Pro Populo: Celebrating Sunday Together
Sunday is the first day of the week, the day of the Resurrection, when Christians gather to celebrate the Eucharist. All other liturgical days and personal prayers flow from the grace of Sunday, reminding us that life itself is shaped by the paschal mystery. Because of this, pastors are asked to offer at least one Sunday Mass for the people entrusted to their care, and all priests are encouraged to celebrate Mass for the intentions of the faithful. This celebration, known as the missa pro populo, is offered for all members of the community, living and deceased, rather than for a single individual. For this reason, individual Mass intentions are usually celebrated on weekdays, where they can be carried more personally in prayer.
